Welcome to the legendary coastal town of Tivat!
This small but gorgeous town has only a population of about 9,300 residents and although small this only adds to its appeal since this region preserves its culture from its origins.
The origin of this town is not certain, but legend has it that it originated from the Illyrian queen Teuta who resided here around 230 BC.
This beautiful coastal town has ancient roots and much history to explore!

Your journey will begin today at the famous Lovcen National Park. This incredible location features stunning vies of all of Montenegro from atop the Lovcen Mountain. Mount Lovćen reaches a height of about 1749 meters from the Adriatic basin to its summit, and you will have an interrupted 360 view of the whole country, talk about feeling on top of the world!
Today, most locals visit the summit of Mount Lovcen to pay their respects to one of their most famous royal monarchs, Petar 2 Petrovic or better known as Njegoš. Who is best known for his poetic philosophy and for his role in defending Montenegro against the Turks. You can also visit his mausoleum here, where his body was laid to rest.
This spectacular national park is also the most biodiverse place in Montenegro and hosts a whopping 2000 different plants species in its vast vicinity. It is a wonderful place to go for hikes and adventure filled nature walks!

After that exciting time at Mount Lovcen, you can now make your way to Cafe Del Mare for a tasty seaside lunch.
Here you will enjoy a variety of delicious seafood and other treats to calm your appetite!

For the next segment of your journey, you will need to park your car here and hike up to the Kotor Fortress.

After that tasty meal, it is time to continue exploring this great countryside at Kotor Fortress.
This magnificent fortress is part of a system of defense fortresses built in the Kotor region around the 14th and 15th centuries, they feature military architecture of Illyria, the Byzantine Empire, Venice, and Austria.
The hike up the fortress is about 40 minutes and the view from the top is truly breathtaking as you will be able to view the whole of Kotor bay and enjoy a truly panoramic view of the sea from the top.

For the next location, you will need to park your car off the side of the road here and walk about 500 meters to the beach.

Continuing your journey along this magnificent bay, you will come across a sweet spot where you will be able to admire the sunset in all of its splendor as it sets into the sea.
Galebova stijena is a somewhat private beach in that not many people come here, so you might even have a chance to have the beach all to your self as you watch the sunset here. The crystal clear water is truly a big plus in this experience in case you want to go for a dip.

Next up you will keep heading north to your next destination which is a hidden gem here on the coast.
Beach Bar El Cortez is a charming little seaside bar and grill where you can sit back and unwind after an action packed day!
Here you will have a chance to enjoy a variety of well-prepared dishes, of which I personally recommend the octopus salad or the grilled trout with asparagus. You can also enjoy some of the best cocktails in the region here!
