Craco is a ghost town with a truly evocative charm. Located in the province of Matera, it stands among the rocks of a small hillock and sends shivers down the spines of all who visit it because of the legends it hides within.
Craco was depopulated because of a landslide in the 1960s that made most of the structures uninhabitable. Due to subsequent natural disasters such as the flood and earthquake of the 1980s, the situation further deteriorated making the village completely uninhabited. Craco has now become a favorite destination for those who wish to do under tourism and stop time. Moreover, since 2011, a number of itineraries have been organized that allow guided tours even in the historic center of the village and make the atmosphere even more surreal.

Gullies arise from soil erosion produced by the flow of water over clayey rocks. The term "gully" means the furrow left along the side of these knolls. Numerous geological studies have been conducted on this area, and in 2011 it was accredited by the Basilicata Region as an Environmental and Sustainability Education Center due to its high geological and scientific value. The stratigraphic-environmental evolution and the fossils found have made it possible to place the existence of this area from the Quaternary, or about 1.7 million years ago. Here Nature has given birth to something that will undoubtedly leave you breathless. What's more, it is always open, free and needs no reservations. What are you waiting for?

Tursi is a very picturesque town in Lucania mainly because of its housing structure: it is surrounded by cliffs and ravines on all sides. The rabatana is the oldest quarter of the town. Inhabited by the Goths around the 5th century, Rabatana was later so called only in the 9th century following the arrival of the Saracens. Evident even today are the profound marks left in the architecture, local dialect and popular culture of the place.
La Rabatana is also famous today thanks to Albino Pierro and the poems he dedicated to it. Leave the car behind and explore its narrow streets and alleys, letting yourself be enveloped by its magic.
