An Exciting Excursion around Erfurt

It's time to embark on our adventure! Setting off from the wonderful city of Hamburg you will drive a four and a half hour journey but if that sounds intimidating, fear not! We have a nice layover in Hanover along the way and the jaw-droppingly natural beauty of the German countryside will make the hours fly by.

Now that you are half way through your scenic journey, let's stop by in the great city of Hanover to quiet any stomach rumblings. This quaint restaurant does wonderful brunch options and is the perfect place to stop by, have a coffee and light meal before completing the second half of your journey to Erfurt.

No trip to Erfurt would be complete without seeing the enchanting Kramerbrucke, or Merchant’s Bridge. This bridge has barely changed in 500 years, with picturesque galleries and boutique shops running along the bridge, lining its sides. There are a great deal of cafes and restaurants here, the Mundlandung restaurant is especially recommended!

Now it’s time to shop in Anger. No, I don’t mean to visit a shopping mall in a rage! I mean to make the short journey through the lovely centre of town to the famous Angerplatz, a central square where there is a wealth of antique shops, fancy boutiques and high-end stores. This idyllic square has arts and crafts from the Middle Ages to the present date on display, and if you wanted to partake in seeing modern European fashion, you’ll be spoiled for choice in some of the department stores.

If it's dinner you're thinking about now, we have you covered. For our money there is nowhere better in Erfurt than the Zum Wenigemarkt 13. In this beautiful tavern with a patio, delicious local meals are served such as potato dumplings, charbroiled sausages & other Thuringian regional dishes.
