From Cap D’Ail to Monaco

The Villa the Camelias is a beautiful building with "Belle Epoque" style. It is a museum dedicated to Cap d'Ail and its interesting history. You will find historical rooms and a collection dedicated to the painter Ramiro Arrue.

Come here on the main square of the Palace of the Prince to watch the changing of the Guards. It happens every day at 11:55. The guards are dressed in black in winter and white in summer. It is definitely an interesting show to watch and the most popular attraction in Monaco. The square will definitely be crowded at this time . Also from this place, you will enjoy an amazing view of the surroundings: the port, Monte-Carlo and Italy on one side and the French coast with Cap d'Ail on the other side. Go for lunch and come back to the Palace to visit it inside after lunch.

Go back to the Prince's Palace of Monaco. It was initially a fortress built in the 13th century. Only the Serravale tower and some Vauban walls survived this time. The courtyard is beautiful and an amazing staircase takes you to the Hercules gallery. The throne room is where the Prince Rainier III got married with Grace Kelly. You will visit beautiful rooms with great furniture and paintings by masters.
Open hours Monday - Sunday 10:00 - 18:00. You can buy the ticket combined with the oceanographic museum that you will visit just after.

This is the best museum to visit in Monaco, don't miss it. It is definitely one of the best oceanographic museums in the world. The building and its location on the rock are amazing already. The museum was created to host the private collections of the Prince Albert Ist from his expeditions around the seas of the World. It was inaugurated at the beginning of the 20th century and was managed by the Commandant Cousteau from 1957 to 1988. There is also a great aquarium to explore the fauna and flora of the sea.

The Cathedral was built at the end of the 19th century in white stones from La Turbie. Inside you can see where the Princes are burried, so you can see the tumb of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly.

To reach the beautiful rich quarter of Monte-Carlo, you can walk along the port with splendid yachts. It is a very nice stroll. You can check out the Opera of Monte-Carlo, an amazing building from outside. To see the inside of it, you would have to book a performance and go there dressed up. You can do so on the website.

The casino of Monte-Carlo has several amazing buildings. The oldest one dates back from 1878 and the architect is Charles Garnier, the same architect than for the Opera of Paris. You can visit inside for free and check out the ceilings which are very richly decorated. And of course you can gamble all your fortune here.
