Historic Route From Kingman to Las Vegas

While you're in Kingman, don't miss the chance to snap a pic at the Kingman Route 66 sign. You can drive your vehicle through the sign and hop out to take a photo or ask someone to do it for you. Either way it makes a nice Route 66 souvenir to commemorate your southwest road trip.

The Arizona Route 66 Museum is a must see in Kingman with tons of info about the history and development of the area and what it looked like back in the day.

Just across the street from the Route 66 museum is Locomotive Park. The park is dedicated to the hard working railroad companies and trains that contributed so much to the growth of northern Arizona and southern Nevada.
The park is home to the famed Steam Engine #3759. This coal-burning locomotive made ten round trips monthly between Los Angeles and Kansas City and Kingman was where it stopped for a water stop (to replenish water for the steam engine).
It's a one of a kind experience to hop up in the cab of an old steam engine train such as this.

Make a quick pit stop for a scenic view of the Colorado River and Black Canyon before crossing into Nevada.

Use this car park to access the Mike O'Callaghan-Pat Tillman Bridge. Parking is free and there's no cost to access the pedestrian walkway across the bridge.

Before arriving to Las Vegas take time to visit the Mike O'Callaghan Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The bridge was constructed in 2005 and is the widest concrete arch in the Western Hemisphere, the second highest bridge in the United States and the world’s highest concrete arch bridge.
The best part of the bridge is the a pedestrian walkway. You can take a stroll across and from high above, you'll get the absolute best views of the Hoover Dam and the Lake Mead Reservoir.
As mentioned previously, there's a free car park nearby. The walkway has signage with educational information about the construction of the bridge and important facts about the dam and tidbits about the area and is open 24 hours a day.
