Beautiful Blue Waters, Rocky Cliffs and Traditional Herdsmen Settlement

Park your car at the designated carpark of the beautiful Kamniška Bistrica River Valley region. Follow the path to the first stop in the wilderness!

You'll start day two by entering the heart of the Kamniška Bistrica River Valley region. Here, you'll drive to the carpark and leave the car before walking to the river, Kamniška Bistrica and discover its stunningly clear, fresh and turquoise waters. You can walk to your next stop along the path.

Walkup the river until you reach Izvir Kamniske Bistrice. From here, take a nice relaxing walk in some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe. There are plenty of walking trails up and along the river, or you can jump in the water if you're feeling up for a chilled swim.

After a morning exploring the nature and moving the body, you'll find the Pri Jurju Inn a treat among the wilderness. Here, you can grab a snack, coffee or cold drink and enjoy the quiet serenity of the lovely setting. They're open from 8 am every day except for Wednesday when they're closed all day.

Enjoy a nice stroll back to the carpark as you get one last look at the spectacular gorges, greenery and blue waters.

Drive back down to Kamnik for lunch. You can eat at Vratarnica Kamnik, a lovely burger restaurant with spacious outdoor seating among the trees. You enjoy the lovely atmosphere every day for lunch except for Sunday, and there's no need to make a booking but you can check out their website here.

On the way to lunch, stop off at this building heritage building — Castle Katzenberg. It's not open for entrance, but you can explore the modern historical building from the outside and take in its beauty among the natural surroundings.

The rest of the afternoon will be spent exploring the wonderful Velika Planina or Big Pasture. In winter, this is a ski resort and taking the cable car to the top will offer delicious white-covered views of the region. In the other seasons, you'll get to soar over vast green hills and glorious mountains.
Velika Planina was one of the most unique I've ever seen. It's a traditional herdsmen settlement, filled with huts from the residents as well as great walking routes, cattle and tonnes of greenery.
The lift operates at different times throughout the year. You should be fine most of the year if you go after lunch, but you can check out their schedule here.

You can reflect on that lovely aerial journey with a refreshing drink at Lokal Fico Bar. This place is in a great location, among the beautiful nature of the region, where you can even hear the trickling of the water stream nearby.
They're open in the afternoon for a drink every day of the week, but not on Saturday and Sunday.

To wrap up the day, drive to this beautiful section of Kaminski Bistrica, where you'll see a peaceful lake surrounded by gorgeous trees. Follow the dirt track until it ends and leave your car on the side - it's not a main road, so it's okay to park here. You can then walk down towards the river and along until your reach the water. Here, you can watch the ducks go by their day, enjoy the fading colours of the sky as the sun declines and soak up the serenity before you head back to the city.
