The Derry Girls

First stop for the day is The Guildhall!
One of Derry's most iconic attractions, the Guildhall has been the seat of local government for most of the 20th Century and has been the site of many important events of the years, including the address of former US president Bill Clinton and was also subject to several terror attacks during the troubles!
More recently the Guildhall has provided the backdrop to several scenes from Derry Girls including the show's portrayal of Bill Clinton's visit!

Your next location is the famous Derry Walls, which you may recognize from several shots in the show!
The Derry Walls were built in the 17th-Century as a means of defending Scottish and English workers on the Plantation of Ulster.
Like the Guildhall, the Derry Walls have played a big role in the city's history, including the Siege of Derry in 1689 and the destruction of the statue of siege hero Governor George Walker in 1973.
The wall is also home to 22 cannons, the largest collection of cannons whose exact origins are known!

Your next stop is the Free Derry Corner.
Appearing several times across seasons 1 and 2, Free Derry Corner is a mural commemorating the self-declared, autonomous nationalist area that declared itself separate from the city and managed to hold out for 3 years between 1969 and 1972.
The streets surrounding the mural were the site of the Battle of the Bogside and Bloody Sunday.

Time for lunch!
Your lunch venue for the day is The Old Docks Bar & Grill, a trendy restaurant & bar with a fantastic menu serving up a wide range of classics including burgers, pizzas and a great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Your next stop for the day is not a film location but given the history of the area is not to be missed on a visit to Derry!
The Free Derry Museum tells the story of Free Derry and the lasting effects of events such as the Bloody Sunday Massacre.
It exists as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for human and civil rights and aims to educate visitors on the tumultuous history of the city.

Time now to leave Derry and head north to Malin Head.
Park your car and take a short walk up to the head.

Malin Head is the most northerly point in mainland Ireland and was used as the location for several scenes in Star Wars: The Last Jedi!
Spectacular, rugged coastline, wild scenery, incredible bird life and fascinating history are all features of Malin Head, which made it the perfect location for the remote, inhospitable planet it represented in the Star Wars universe!
Take a walk along the clifftop and keep your eyes peeled for stormtroopers!

Head back to the car park and pick up your car.

Head back into Derry for dinner!

This award-winning restaurant prides itself on serving top-quality food at very reasonable prices. All the food is made using locally-sourced produce and the menu is full of delicious classics!
