    After a short walk you will discover another finest architectural creation called Palais Rohan. It was built between 1732 and 1742 by Robert de Cotte. During its history the palace was a residence of the four cardinals of Rohan, then it became a city hall. Finally, it was an imperial and royal palace.
    The classical architecture was designed to resemble one of the great Parisian mansions. The palatial facades, the seventeen aligned windows, the three avant-corps (protruding sections) and the sumptuous interior decoration makes this building exceptional.
    Today it houses three museums.

    As you are walking on the Grande Ile, you will find the most famous and most beautiful Gothic cathedral in Europe. It was built between 1015 and 1439 by the proposal of Bishop Werner von Habsburg.
    The building is an architectural masterpiece. You can discover many treasures: stained glass windows from the 12th to 14th century, a large rose window on the main façade which is placed above the entrance, the St. Pancrace's altar, instruments from 1260, 1291 and 1327, tapestries which form the Virgin's wall from the 17th century, the highest spire of Christianity which dates from 1439 and the astronomical clock which presents different ages of life and the parade of the apostles before Christ every day at 12:30pm.

The bridges are arching over four river channels of the River Ill consisting of 13 arches. The remains of the four-square towers from the 14th century once linked the bridges together. They were also featured wooden canopies where soldiers protected the city. Discover the bridge inside where you can find sculptures and plaster casts from the Strasbourg Cathedral and Palais Rohan.
