Unleash your Inner Child with Magdeburg's Wonderful Attractions
Now it is time for day 3, the final part of this whirlwind tour around central Germany. Last, but most definitely not least, is the city of Magdeburg. The capital of the Saxony district boasts of great excursions and we've chosen the best of the best. First of all, soak in the incredible architecture of the Green Citadel, before enjoying the area's greatest steaks or salad buffet in Bralo House. Then it's off to wander and wonder at the Jahrtausendturm museum before making the drive back to Hamburg, stopping off at Brunswick for a delightful dinner.

Hundertwasser's Green Citadel of Magdeburg
Landmark
Open Details
The Green Citadel, or Gruene Zitadelle, is a masterpiece of modern architecture by the renowned Hundertwasser who describes it as “oasis for humanity and nature in a sea of rational houses”. Despite the hyperbole, he's not lying. The magical building that looks like a castle underwater, is called 'green' due to the large amount of vegetation surrounding this structure and must be seen to be believed. In modern times, the Green Citadel is used as shops, a cafe, a restaurant, a theatre and a kindergarten school among other things. Take photos as you take in this interesting structure, before going inside and exploring its contents.
Open Hours: Monday - Sunday: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Inside the beautiful Elbauenpark, full of lovely apple trees, is the Jahrtausendturm, one of the tallest wooden tours in the world. Whether you're 14 or 45 you will have a blast here, learning about cultural history and science through games and devices. A true one of its kind, this tower will teach and entertain you in droves.
