    In Between Switzerland and Italy

    This third day of the route is an "in between" Switzerland - Italy - Switzerland! It is a path that starts still in Zermatt, visiting the location of Furi and its surroundings by crossing the Hangebruc and then heading to the Museum of Cervino.
    Leaving the Swiss territory, you will make a little stop in Italy, in the Val d'Ossola, to see the beautiful Malesco falls, immersed in the valley at the bottom of the mountains.
    And back to Switzerland, you will arrive in Locarno, in the Ticino area, where you will spend the night and visit the day after.

    The itinerary continues with Furi, a little village just few minutes away from Zermatt, that you can reach with a cable car or walking for about 2 km.
    Zuri is located when once was the Gorner glacier, that today is home of forests and ancient barns. One of the most exciting thing to do is to take the trail for the Hangebrucke, a hung bridge with an height of 90 mt and a length of 100 mt.
    The trail starts from the village and goes on for an hour before crossing the bridge and go further until reaching the Garden of Dossen Glaciers.
    It is a path suggested to do from June to October and it is of low difficulty. You can buy the ticket for the cable car here.

    On the way back, a well deserved stop for lunch is a must.
    The Zum See is a 350 years old chalet, located not so far from Zuri station. It has seats on the inside and also a terrace where you can eat outside.
    The menu varies according to the local products and seasons, you check out their site for more information and to reserve a table.
    The restaurant is open everyday from 11.30 am to 5 pm from the 7th of December to the 18th of April, and during the summer season from late June to October.

    After a restoring lunch in Furi, the route suggests to make a stop at the Zermatlantis, the Museum of the Cervino Mount.
    It was open in 2006 and it shows the history of Zermatt, from its origins as a rural village to an important touristic destination.
    The museum tells also the stories related to the alpine events, among which the very first climb on the Matterhorn in 1865, and its unfortunate tragic development.
    The site is open everyday from 3 pm to 6 pm in the months from October to June, except for the period from 18/11 to 18/12 that is open just from Friday to Sunday. And during the summer, July to September, from 2 pm to 6 pm. But you can check the updates of timetable on the site.

    Leaving the beautiful and unconventional Zermatt, you are headed to Malesco, a small village in the Ossola Valley.
    Just few minutes walking from the center, there are the Falls of Malesco or Falls of chimney. They come from the Loana torrent, which makes three jumps in this spot and forms the waterfalls.
    It is possible to refresh by taking a swim or also starting one of the trekking paths marked by the signs.
    You can also leave the car in the center of the city and walk for about 10 minutes to reach the spot, or park the car in the parking lot nearby in "Via della Cascata".

    In the middle of the valley surrounded by the mountains there is the restaurant La Stalla, a lovely place made out of the old lodges now beautifully refurbished.
    It serves typical local dishes and is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12.00 pm to 2 pm and from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm.
