When Mustard, Wine, and Blackcurrants Go Together

Start your morning with a visit to the Boulangerie Pluchon for breakfast.
The bakery is open every day except Thursday from 6.30 am to 1.30 pm, then from 3.30 to 7.30 pm.

Time to really explore Beaune! Start with the most famous spot in town: the beautiful Hôtel-Dieu, easily recognizable by its colorful tile roof.
This 15th-century monastery turned hospital for the poor turned museum is open every day from 9 am to 6.30 pm.

Walk to the Hôtel des Ducs de Bourgogne, the old dukes' mansion. Visit here the Musée du Vin.
The Wine Museum of Beaune is open daily from 10 am to 1 pm, then from 2 to 6 pm.

After learning about wine, move on to Square des Lions, a wonderful patch of green among what remains from the 17th-century fortification.

You've learned about wine, now it's time to learn about another famous local product: mustard! The best place to go is La Moutarderie Fallot.

Visit any day between 9.30 am and 6 pm.

While mustard is delicious, it doesn't make a meal. So have lunch at La Beaune Heure.
This restaurant is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On all other days, it's open from 12 to 2 pm, then from 7 to 10 pm.

Pick up the car and drive to Le Cassissium.

Spend a couple of hours in the Verdenne fruit liqueur factory to learn about blackcurrants and the production of the crème de cassis.
Your visit to the factory will include a movie and a guided tour of the distillation room, plus a tasting of the blackcurrant liqueur at the end.
Le Cassissium is open daily from 10 am to 1 pm, then from 2 to 7 pm.

In the last part of your tour from Dijon, you will visit Château de Châteauneuf, a hilltop feudal castle, with beautiful apartments and impressive dungeons.
The castle is open Tuesday-Sunday from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, then from 2 to 6 pm.

Go for a steep walk to the Église Saint Philippe et Saint Jacques, and pass it to reach a belvedere point with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and Réservoir de Panthier.

The final stop on your drive back to Dijon will be to eat crêpes at Côté Jardin Pouilly. After dinner, if you want to prolong your vacation a bit more, take a relaxing walk through the vegetable garden.
This crêperie is open for from 11.45 am to 2 pm and 6.45 to 10 pm on Thursday, and from 11.45 am to 10 pm between Friday and Sunday.
