Where Was Jane Austen Happiest? In Her House in Chawton.
If you're an absolute fan of Jane Austen, then you're probably familiar with some of the film versions of her novels. The most well-known and read are 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Emma', 'Sense and Sensibility'. This day will take you to Jane Austen's beloved house, where she lived most happily with her sister and mother. You will also visit Wilton House and Montacute House, both great locations for famous film scenes.

Get Ready for the Second Day in the Life of Jane Austen.
Today you will visit Montacute House. Sense and Sensibility was also filmed in this beautiful mansion. Continue to Stourhead Landscape Garden, where the famous scene of Mr Darcy asking Lizzie to marry him was filmed. In the film 'Pride and Prejudice'. Afterwards you can visit another house in Bath where Jane Austen lived. She was not happy there.

This last day is again filled with great show-places for the filmed scenes of Jane Austen's novels. It goes from Bach to Lacock Village, this small, enchanting place was the setting for Meriton in the film adaptation 'Sense and Sensibility' and also 'Emma' with Gwyneth Paltrow. The end of the day will be sad as it brings you to the end of Jane Austen's life in Winchester. She died quite young at only 42.
