It may seem a little early to be drinking wine but at Chateau Bernateau you'll get a professional tour with the option not to swallow the wine should you wish not to (non-drivers may exercise their right to sup up however!).
You're certainly unlikely to leave without stocking up for home, as this ancient vineyard (founded in 1650) is the home of the world-famous Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
The vineyard is open every day from 10am until 7pm, and visitors are welcome to turn up without an appointment. However, if you'd prefer to book a tour, you can do so via their website.

There's off-street parking at the nearby Place Barbacane, which means if you've time before or after your meal, you should take the chance to walk through the lovely old town of Bergerac.
This bistro is the first of several gastronomic treats lined up for your three-day trip, and chef/owner Hugo Brégeon puts on such a fine fare of European and French fusion food that his restaurant has been listed in the Michelin guide.
Best of all, you can tuck while enjoying a beautiful view of The Dordogne River.

From Bergerac, you'll head south through Villeneuve-sur-Lot before stopping in Peyragude to admire its impressive silver-domed church. You'll find parking at the base of the hill, which is fairly steep but does come with a fabulous reward - a stunning view over the valley.

Enjoy a relaxing hour within the peaceful grounds of this Benedictine and Cluniac monastery in Moissac.
Said to hark back to the 8th century, there is history in abundance here and your entrance ticket includes access to the bell tower's high chapel, the side chapels (which often show exhibitions) and the largest and best-preserved Romanesque-period cloister. During the summer months the cloisters are open every day from 10am until 7pm, when tours in English are available.
Audioguides are also available, while if you'd prefer a tour, you can book in advance on their website, where you'll also find out-of-season opening times.

If the name lacks a little imagination, then rest assured the food does not. Situated near the banks of the Garonne River and in the shadows of the 19th century Notre Dame church, the waiting staff here are as passionate about food as the chefs are, giving the entire place a true foodie ambience.
The fixed menu limits the choices but ensures the standards remain high. If they're on there, try the scallops starter and make sure you ask the waiting staff for wine pairing recommendations.

Once you've had your meal, enjoy an evening stroll along the romantically lit river. The 16th Century Pont Neuf (ironically, "new bridge") looks fantastic in photos at this time of day.

Continue your stroll north along the river, where you'll find numerous bars buzzing with life should you be tempted by a nightcap before returning to your hotel.
