Grapes That Become Wine In A UNESCO Heritage Land

This trip will be really exciting because the experiences will be complementary but at the same time, very different from each other.
Zero boredom.
Let's start right away with art related to architecture.
In fact, in the Langhe you will find bright colors enlivening 3 small deconsecrated churches.
This is an artistic project intended to bring the colors of nature into harmony with these small monumental attractions.
We are in COAZZOLO (in the province of Asti). Here we find the second work designed by British artist David Tremlett, who used 3 basic colors for this church that recall the Piedmont landscape: "Sienna," yellow and olive green.
In these 4 days, we will find this artist again :)

Since we are in the land of wine, our shopping and experimentation cannot but involve these products.
Look for this winery that sells typical liquors and choose the one you like best.
For tours and tastings, contact them through their website. It is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while other days it is open from 10 a.m. to noon and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

And now let us devote ourselves to a UNESCO HERITAGE. Let's start right away with a gem: NEIVE!
This small and ancient Borgo, is considered among the most beautiful in Italy.
Seen from above, it has a circular shape. The architecture is Medieval and the oldest part is built on a plateau.
Neive has a nickname: "pais di sgnuret," the Land of the Squires. In fact, the presence of nobility is everywhere, beautiful stately mansions can be found on every corner.
Its specialties are beef (you will find the dish "carne di fassone") and the main 4 wines: Barbera, Barbaresco, Dolcetto and Moscato.
The latter, in its sweet version, is particularly good with desserts.
In its Center, the Clock Tower stands out.

The Macedonian Orthodox Church is a visit that particularly struck me: so different from our canons, and so rich in works of art. It is very, very, very small and basically boils down to what you can see in this image.

The church is located right next to the Christian Church of Saints Peter and Paul-a small church with incredibly beautiful frescoes. Enjoy the picturesque architecture of this village before strolling to the restaurant.
The advice is to make a short visit to both.

It's lunchtime and I suggest this tiny little place, but where you eat traditional Langhe cuisine and everything is really good. The fresh pasta is homemade. That's to give you the measure of the kind of experience you'll get. Very friendly staff.

We said zero boredom, so another particular project, is the giant benches!
The purpose is to go back to looking with the eyes of a child :)

Let's go sit on our first Giant Bench. It's probably not the one with the most beautiful overlook, but it's fun to stand with our legs dangling and admire the landscape with vineyards as far as the eye can see.

Back at the Cantina del Glicine where you left your car after the tasting, pick it up again to leave for Barbaresco.

The tower dates back to the late 11th century. It is a fortification system: it is about 36 meters high, and the battlements are still present on the top.
To go up there is an external elevator. At the end of the ride you will find the ticket office.
From the top of the Tower you can enjoy a magnificent Landscape.

We move on to Barbaresco, home of the wine of the same name.
About 700 inhabitants live in this small village, which is often shrouded in fog in winter.
I suggest you visit the deconsecrated church of San Donato now home to the Regional Enoteca where you can taste the typical wines of the area and then the Tower, symbol of the Borgo with its 30m height where you can, again stop for a taste of the Barbaresco wine of the same name.

Let's stroll through the vineyards!
Have your camera ready, because at every headland, at every bend, behind every path, you will find a "ready-made photograph."
You don't have to be a professional to bring home wonderful memories in pictures, especially in autumn when the hillsides all turn color.

Treiso, a land of Roero, is the protagonist of Beppe Fenoglio's novel "Una questione privata," and we find this village again in "Frammenti di romanzo" and in the short story "L'andata," also by the same author.
Here, too, the vineyards are as far as the eye can see and are the true symbol of this tiny Borgo and the main attraction, although the small traditional alleys also have their charm.

Let's go and observe the landscape from the Seven Brothers Rocks.
This name comes from a legend: the story goes that 7 brothers were intent on work when their sister brought them lunch, which they thought was too poor, despite the fact that it was a Friday, and therefore a day of fasting. They became angry with the sister and with God. A priest passed by, and the sister there invited them to kneel down and end their blasphemy. They did not want to hear about it and it happened that the ground under their feet collapsed, taking the 7 brothers with them :)
The Rocca is included in the route called Strada Romantica delle Langhe e del Roero.

For dining, I suggest this restaurant: 9 chefs have created 36 dishes for La Piola. The all-time specials: must-try veal tonnato, beef tartare, cheese cart.
