Beautiful Sights on the Way to Mediterranean Sea

The starting point of the route will be a remarkable monument in Geneva called “Broken Chair”. In the middle of a medieval staircase, in the same square as the castle, you will find the Statue des frères de Maistre, a great historical monument devoted to the Maistre brothers, famous French activists and philosophers of the second half of the eighteenth century.

Another of Chambéry’s scenic attractions is La Fontaine des Éléphants. It was erected in the nineteenth century in honour of General de Boigne, an adventurer who worked as military for Maharajas in India. When he died, he donated part of his inheritance to the city, and some of the money was used to erect this monument. The elephants are winking at the general's Indian story.
