Trip to Jeløya Island, Moss and Sarpsborg

Oslo has had and still has many modernist buildings in its center, and many associate the city with the modernist architecture from the 1930s and upwards. We can mention Parkgården, Parkteateret, Trygdekassa, Krematoriet and Gimle kino as excellent examples of architectural gems from this period. Look at the captivating yellow facade with white windows frames building named Konvensjonsgården, former place of Moss Jernverk — "Moss Ironwork", decorated in Rococo style built in 1778 by Jess Anker where in August 1814 the union called Moss Convention with Sweden was signed in the same time allowed to keep the form of Norwegian,Eidsvold constitution. While on your way to the Gallery F15 pay attention to the landmark of the city of town of Moss — the 100 years old Bytårnet — City Tower.

Step into the fascinating 300 hundred years old industrial history of city of Moss at the local museum opened in the former mill and situated right in the heart of the town close to magnificent, powerful waterfall Mossefossen.

In the Borgarsyssel Museum opened in 1921 on the ruins from 11th century Saint Nicolas church, you will discover how people from the region of Østfold from the period of Medieval Times up to today lived in the past while visiting the charming old wooden houses kept in the original state from late 18th century including famous Snekkenes house as a part of open-air museum, in the Sarpe Diem Museum placed in the hall of Olav you will find out all about the 100 years of the fascinating history of Sarpsborg people and last but not least a well-preserved bunker at Defense Museum is worth to see as well.

Feel the breeze of the prehistoric times on your cheeks when you stop at this historic landmark dating back over 3000 years at the Bronze Age and considered as one of the biggest rock carving in the North of the Europe and consisting drawing of three ships which size, according to some archeologist, could be a proof that Viking were travelling globally well before it was actually earlier suspected to the other countries located as far as Spain, Italy or Egypt.
