The historic Katy Trail. Have you heard of it?
The Katy Trail, a state park in Missouri, is the USA's longest recreational rail trail. With more than 240 miles, most of it along the northern edge of the Missouri River, the trail closely follows the path of the former railroad which ran from Missouri to Kansas, ending in Texas.
The Katy Trail is accessed throughout many points in Missouri, the Marthasville Trail Head here is one of the prettiest and most accessible. Enjoy the scenic walk along this historic trail as you discover rural Missouri.
After your walk, you can grab a snack at one of the food trucks which often park near the car lot, or you can wait until your next stop at the Kuenzel Valley Winery where you can enjoy a pizza with your wine.
If you wish to eat before visiting the winery, there are also other options including a few other cafés near the trailhead like Philly's Pizza and Cori's Twin Gables.
