Riverside Coffee, Tesla and Back Through the Balkans

On your way to this chic café you'll pass through some of the gleaming new Belgrade Waterfront development than runs alongside the River Sava. It has certainly divided opinion in the city, but everyone agrees that it has changed the face of Belgrade.

There is an ongoing tug-of-war between Croatians and Serbians to claim the legacy of Nikola Tesla, who is an ethnic Serb but was born in what is now Croatia.
Political and cultural fisticuffs aside, Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Museum is a more-than-worthy tribute to the legendary inventor. It is an immersive experience that brings Tesla to life through interactive exhibitions and larger-than-life tour guides.

This tribute to the victims of World War II is located just off the highway that runs between Belgrade and Zagreb. Back then, though, it was where some of the most brutal battles of the war were fought on the Syrmian Front.
It is understated, with just a small museum and gardens, but strikes the perfect tone to pay tribute for the men and women who lost their lives in the conflict.

To break up the long drive back to Ljubljana, why not make a short stop at this peaceful arboretum? Stretch your legs by taking a walk through its tree-lined paths and green spaces before making one last stop on your road trip.
