From Tafedna Beach to Essaouira

Waking up in the middle of Tafedna Bay, a bay that stretches for 4 km, take a walk along its sandy beach towards the village. The beach is lined with picturesque white and blue houses and the village of Tafedna has typical local shops.

As you just arrived in Essaouira, take your lunch at Ocean Vagabond Essaouira, a small restaurant on the beach. You'll eat fresh sea food, but also pizzas or burgers, in a very nice and quiet atmosphere. As you're eating in front of the ocean, you can check the waves for your surf tomorrow, and learn from professionals who may already be in the water.

Take a walk on the beach, put your towel in the sand, and take an hour to relax and enjoy the sun. If the weather's good enough, you can even have a dip in the ocean and have fun in the waves!

Park your car at the parking located at the entrance of Essaouira's medina. As you just cross its doors, head to Bo Boutik Mogador, a little clothing and accessories shop owned by a friendly Moroccan woman. She designs everything herself, and works with artisans from the medina for leather and other fabrics.

The medina of Essaouira, a UNESCO heritage site, is a must-see when visiting the city. Head to the fish market located at the heart of the medina, and feel free to discover its hidden corners on the way.

Have a mint tea at the Taraa Café, a small and cosy café located in the middle of the streets of the medina. As you sit there, you'll be mixing with all the locals and the people of Essaouira.

As you exit the gates of the medina, take a walk along the harbour and ramparts while admiring the golden hour over the ocean.

The medina of Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador (from the Phoenician word Migdol meaning "small fortress"), is an exceptional example of a mid-18th century fortified town surrounded by a Vauban-style wall.

A restaurant, a café and a gallery. The decor is offbeat and consists of vintage objects, mismatched furniture, a mishmash of tables and colours. The Loft has found its place in the heart of the medina, it offers Mediterranean cuisine, prepared with fresh products. Appreciate the intimate and friendly atmosphere of the place.
