More Sights In Venice

After breakfast, take a boat to the Doge's Palace, which is one of Venice’s main attractions. Most of the day you’ll be transferring between ferryboats, gondolas and water buses, so for now, you’ll leave from Zattere Station and arrive at San Marco-San Zaccaria "F". From this palace, the Doge, which was the name of the rulers of the vast and powerful Republic of Venice, passed laws and governed the country’s trade. After visiting the beautiful Doge's Palace, depart for the neighbouring island of San Giorgio Maggiore from the same boat station. The local bell tower of the Cathedral of San Giorgio Maggiore is one of the dominant architectural works of Venice, and it’s visible from almost anywhere in the city. After visiting the observation deck at the bell tower, walk through the Borges Maze with its various plants, paintings and mirrors. Then go to the Cini Foundation museum – an interesting collection of Venetian paintings and sculptures, ancient manuscripts, weapons, porcelain and interior items. This island is like another city within a city, and you can walk around it for a very long time.

For lunch, go to the Lineadombra restaurant located near your next attraction. To get here, take a boat to the Zattere station. Santa Maria della Salute is the main city cathedral in Venice. It was built four centuries ago to honour the city's rescue from the plague ("salute" in Italian means "salvation, deliverance"). The Cathedral appears to be the dominant feature of the Grand Canal. Be sure to see the paintings by the Venetian master Titian and the mosaic floor with the most incredibly complex patterns.

From the nearby Salute boat station, take a ride to the Arsenale station.
The Arsenal of Venice was once the most important shipyard for the construction and restoration of merchant and military vessels, which was in demand by all the maritime powers during the Renaissance due to its convenient location. Nowadays, there are several exhibition pavilions dedicated to shipbuilding, as well as a historical naval museum.
The pavilions and the museum are open daily except for Sundays and holidays.

Before heading out for dinner, take a walk around the historic Campo Santo Stefano square. To get here, catch a boat to Giglio station.
