- Visit Lee Canyon for outdoor activities in summer or winter.
- Explore unique hiking trails and rock formations.
- Marvel at the colorful sandstone of Red Rock Canyon.
Mt. Charleston is proof that's possible to see snow on a regular basis in southern Nevada. The tallest peak in the region is a popular day trip for Las Vegans eager to ski, sled and snowboard in the winter, while biking and hiking during the warmer months. In a fascinating twist, Mt. Charleston happens to be relatively close to Red Rock Canyon, a federally protected landscape of colorful sandstone formations. Visit both in the same day for a vibrant contrast in experiences.
Please note: One of the top stops on Mt. Charleston, Lee Canyon, only operates on weekends and holidays during summer, so check in advance when planning a trip.

Check the latest conditions and weather reports before hitting the road – and make sure to fill up on gas before leaving town. It's in limited supply on the mountain.

Robber's Roost Trailhead
Hiking Trail
Open Details
This mountain trail is a short, fun and easy hike. Look for the stones marking on the entrance on the opposite side of the road from a small parking lot. It's an uphill rocky path with a few caves to explore at the end.
The hike is less than a half-mile roundtrip and can be done in 30 minutes or less with no problem. Some of the rocky terrain gets slippery at times, so it may be a good idea to skip this stop during snowy weather.

Hiking Trail
Open Details
If you only choose one hiking path along the Red Rock Canyon Scenic Drive, the Pine Creek Trailhead is your best overall option. It runs in a simple, easy-to-navigate loop that's appropriate for beginners, but has several offshoots for more experienced explorers.
