Leuven: Cycling, Lakes, Picnic and Trails

Welcome to the first day of your family's trip to Belgium! Today will be a day of parks, a dip in the lake, picnics and other surprises. The first stop will be the city of Leuven, a university city and the birthplace of one of the most famous beers: stella Artois. Although this itinerary does not include a visit to the brewery, you can try all its varieties in any of the city's bars (and even take one with you for a picnic). In this city you will be able to see the most famous sites and do what everyone does in Belgium: ride a bike! You can choose to cycle around the city's most iconic sites or take one of the routes proposed by the tourist office, such as the abbey route. After a picnic in one of the parks and the visit to some of the most popular tourist sites, you can go to the lake Meer van Rotselaarand and enjoy the beach for a while, or go for a walk or go sailing. The day will end in the city of Malinas, a city designed for family trips.

Mechelen, a Kids Friendly City and the Chocolate Museum in Antwerp

As it is a route designed for families, the not so famous (from a tourist point of view) city of Mechelen is included in the itinerary. It is a child-friendly city because it is the children themselves who make proposals to the local government to improve the city. That's why you'll see games in the old town and routes designed for family play. It also has a Toy Museum and Tecnópolis, a space to experience science from different aspects, which the whole family will love. As if this were not enough, it has illustrated maps for children and themed routes for the family through the city centre and the surrounding area. After spending the whole morning and part of the afternoon in Mechelen, it is suggested to arrive in time in Antwerp to finish the day at the Chocolate Nation, an interactive experience... about chocolate! about chocolate!

Ghent and Bruges, Two Must-Sees in Belgium

Ready for the third day on the road? The proposal of the day is to visit two of the most touristic cities in Belgium, but not unattractive for children... on the contrary! After breakfast it is suggested to take a short walk through the old town of Antwerp, if you feel like it, as there wasn't much time for that the day before. You can walk around the main square, the cathedral, look for a medieval alley and buy typical Antwerp sweets. Otherwise, you can start driving earlier to the first stop of the day: Ghent. In Ghent you can go on a family scavenger hunt in search of the dragon Fosfor by means of an app on your mobile phone, which is great fun for the children. You can also visit a medieval castle, walk through the old town, take pictures of graffiti and, of course, buy the city's typical sweets: cuberdons. The second stop of the day is the beautiful city of Bruges. As you will arrive a little late, you can visit the Historium, a museum with multi-sensory experiences to learn about the history of the medieval history of Bruges. In addition, you can climb up to a viewing platform and have a beautiful view of the market square. You can take one more stroll through the narrow streets of the city and spend the night there to enjoy a canal cruise the next day.

Navigation Between Canals and Amusement Park

The last day of this amazing 4-day tour of Belgium arrived! The proposal is to start the morning in Bruges with one of the most traditional activities: navigating its channels. Then, the idea is to spend the rest of the morning and afternoon in an Amusement Park with activities for all ages, from the youngest to the oldest, so everyone has fun and it is a great end to this family trip. For that you will have to drive to the city of Panne, where the park is located. Before returning to Brussels it is recommended to make a farewell dinner in that city, facing the sea. And so they will have finished four days of adventures, knowledge, games and chocolate!
