"Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam". This road trip itinerary crosses the great plains - where an estimated 30 - 60 million buffalo once lived - of Kansas into western Colorado. The route includes stops in Topeka, Abilene, Hays and Oakley, Kansas with overnights in Salina, Kansas and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Most of the, approximately 590 miles is interstate driving with a few secondary roads the reach the sights sprinkled through the trip. You'll experience the often underestimated beauty - and loneliness - of the the great plains of Kansas, visit a Presidential Library, a couple of park sites and learn about what happened to many of those aforementioned buffalo.
The plan is a two day itinerary so it could be done on a weekend or during the week. You'll need comfortable clothes and especially shoes since there is some walking included. A rain jacket or an umbrella is a good idea as well.
Included are charging opportunities at the start, middle and end of the route. Happy motoring!
Make sure to fully charge your car before going on a road trip.
