Getting to know the coffee-growing region of Colombia (Eje Cafetero) is one of the best experiences in the country because it is a route with incredible landscapes (like seeing a valley of palm trees high in the mountains!), with very picturesque and colorful villages and, of course, with the aroma and flavor of Colombian coffee.
The Eje cafetero was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2011, for its landscapes, colorful villages and culture. That's why it's a must-see on a trip to Colombia.
One of the nearest major cities is Manizales (also a beautiful city to visit) and from there you can start the round trip through the Eje cafetero, both to the south and to the north. The area to be visited in these four days is towards the south. The Eje cafetero covers three administrative departments: Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío.
On this 4-day itinerary through the Eje Cafetero you will be amazed by wonderful landscapes, walk through colorful villages, enjoy hot springs and hikes, taste local gastronomy and learn about the coffee process. Also, you will meet very cheerful, friendly and helpful people.
It's a trip where you won't stop wanting to take pictures!
