Now it's time to start your peaceful getaway, out of the bustling city and off to explore the idyllic town of Luneburg. Stop over at Soetebiers Dorfbäckerei on the way for some refreshments before making your way to the medieval Am Sande square. After that it's time for lunch at Mälzer Brau- und Tafelhaus and then go off to the Luneburg water tower observation deck to see the town in all it's beauty from above. Afterwards see what Luneburg is famous for at the German Salt Museum before getting dinner at the Altes Brauhaus, before finally getting some rest at the Einzigartig - Das kleine Hotel im Wasserviertel.

German Salt Museum

Open Details
Luneburg is known for being a 'salt-city' where salt was produced and sold. Therefore to learn more about this reputation, a visit to its Salt Museum is essential. Here you will learn about salt itself, how it was cultivated in Luneburg and the history of the city in relation to it. There are audio guides available for just €1 in English and German, and there's an impressive giftshop here too, where you can buy quaint postcards and lots of different types of salt! This quirky yet interesting museum is entertaining and should be on every Luneburg tourist's itinerary.

Einzigartig - Das kleine Hotel im Wasserviertel
9
This charming hotel is very comfortable, central and with great service. It's a three-star hotel but this ranking is fairly modest when you account for the quality of its rooms, its restaurants and that it even has themed dinner nights with live performances. Highly recommended.
