Cycling Around Krassnitzer Lake

What you are looking at is not only a hill, but a burial mound. Skeletal remains were found here in the 20th century, but also two ceramic vessels, which the excavations with little respect called a coffee pot and a milk pot. You can find more info on the sign next to the burial mound. Stretch your legs, you have a one-hour drive ahead of you, but after that, you will get enough exercise to keep the blood flowing.

Time to leave your car and rent a bike, because that is the best way to go around the lake. Wind in your hair, blood flowing through your veins and you might even burn a few calories. Don't worry, you will eat them again at lunch.

This is an unfinished lock system, which is quite impressive to see and a good spot to get off your bike for a few minutes and rest. Nearby you can also find an old bunker.

You have already seen a lot of the lake from a low point of view, but now it's time to go up. From this tower, you will have a great view of the lake.

You can stop for a few minutes here. This path will take you all the way to the place where you are going to have lunch, so stop wherever you like down the road, but make sure you are at the restaurant around 13:00 so you have enough time to eat before it closes at 14:30.

Welcome to the second lake of your road trip. You have arrived at the Geiseltalsee. It has a size of 1840 hectares and is the biggest the largest artificial lake by area in Germany. Here you can walk on the bridge, take some great photos or enjoy the sunset.

There are several spot at the lake where you can have diner. If you are here in the weekend you can go to Chill & Grill at the lake. The pulled pork is a real treat here, but the burgers are also very good as are the prices. On top of all that you can enjoy a great view while you eat.
