On the second day we arrive in Tresigallo, the Metaphysical City. As soon as we arrive in this town, a symbol of Italian rationalism, we notice that it is definitely not just another town.
This town in fact, and also precisely why it is worth visiting, is the result of the transformation carried out from 1933 to 1939, which made Tresigallo an open-air museum of early 20th century architecture.
A walk inside the town will show you an aesthetic taste very different from what we are normally used to.

Even in Ferrara, it is ideal to walk to the center, so parking at the Diamanti Parking Lot is a good solution.

Arriving in Ferrara, one cannot fail to make a brief stop at the House Museum of Ludovico Ariosto, author of Orlando Furioso.
This small mansion with free admission is very well maintained and inside it is enriched with various objects and documents that tell its story.

At Lemòkò, the quality and presentation of the dishes is sublime, and the location is elegant and well-kept.

A stop at the Pinacoteca Nazionale is mandatory for anyone coming to Ferrara.
It is part of the Estense Galleries, and inside it presents a journey through the history of Ferrara painting: from the 13th to the 18th century, thanks to masters of the caliber of Mantegna, Guercino, Dosso Dossi and many others.
Noteworthy is the architecture of the palace in which the art gallery resides; in fact, Palazzo dei Diamanti takes its name precisely from the uniqueness of the facade of this palace.

The Estense Castle is certainly the most famous and important monument in Ferrara.
It is a unique place to really get lost in in order to admire it in its entirety.
On the ground floor you can admire the family trees of the Estense distanzia, documents of the time, medals, and texts of literati and courtiers.
Noteworthy is the Torre dei Leoni, home of the prisons, where, even today, you can see the inscriptions left by inmates on the cell walls.
The tour moves to the private apartments of the sovereigns - and continues to the Loggia degli Aranci, where orange trees planted in large wooden tubs can be admired.

Corso Ercole I D'Este, being devoid of stores and offices and flanked by stupendous palaces, still retains its special residential function that the duke himself originally wanted to give it.
The Quadrivio degli Angeli is certainly an important junction of the Corso with the presence of the magnificent Palazzo dei Diamanti, Palazzo Turchi di Bagno and Palazzo Prosperi Sacrati.
The last part of the street, towards the Porta degli Angeli, shows a thinning of buildings until it almost becomes a country road, lined with poplars.

Having finished visiting Ferrara, it is back to the car and off to Mantua, the city where we will stop for the overnight stop.
