In the middle of the heart of the city is this small family park with a variety of large and small animals both wild and domestic. You can visit two bear brothers and other cute creatures like prairie dogs, monkeys, and racoons. The domestic animals on display include donkeys, sheep, and pigs. It's comic relief from all the intense history so enjoy the park and all it has to offer. There is a small snack bar located near the entrance and toilets near the snow owl enclosure.

This half-timbered building stands on the edge of the Rieseneck hunting grounds near Hummelshain. It is a hunting lodge built between 1915 and 1917 by Duke Ernst II of Saxony-Altenburg. The duke also used it as a "pleasure palace" for his indiscretions and built a secret door through which the mistress could escape via a narrow spiral staircase in case of danger, mainly the Duke's wife. It's a peaceful and serene place for a quiet walk in the woods.
