Arachova's main attraction is its imposing Clock Tower. The tower was built on Tyria Rock in the 18th century as part of the church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, which is now destroyed. The rock got its name from the Greek word "tyri" - which means cheese - because, back in the day, locals used to preserve cheese and other products in the rock, thanks to its cool temperature.
