Breathtaking Sunrise Above the Clouds at Pico Ruivo

Madeira has 2 peaks: Ruivo and Areeiro. Today, you will head to Pico do Arieiro to see the sunrise above the cloud. It is a magnificent show. Enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery.
Please be mindful of the time, as the sunrise exact time changes throughout the year, count 1h30 before sunrise time as the departure time from Quinta do Furao.
Once you reach the parking lot, you will see the indication towards the viewpoint. Walk around and enjoy the precious moment.
Note that the peak is at 1818m of altitude so it is pretty cold up there. Take some warm clothes with you.

The typical houses of Santana are triangular houses showcasing a type of vernacular architecture. Back then, the houses were made of wood, thatch and stones. The climate being cold in winter, the wood and the thatched roof made it possible to adapt the houses to the seasons of the year, cool in summer and warm in winter.
