Ocean, Fynbos and Wildlife Safaris

Struisbaai is a picturesque little seaside village, comprising quaint fishermen’s cottages, colourful fishing boats and beautiful white sandy beaches, making it very popular with photographers.
Fishermen love it too – for the rich catches they can get. Jet skiing, diving, surfing and kayaking are other popular activities here.

The Bredasdorp Shipwreck Museum is the only museum dedicated to shipwrecks in South Africa. It was opened in the 1960's and was proclaimed a museum in 1975.
The museum pays homage to 150 ships that met untimely ends along the Southern Cape’s treacherous coast.

Part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, the world’s smallest and most threatened plant kingdom and a UNESCO World Heritage site, De Hoop Nature Reserve is a breath-taking 36 000 ha reserve.
This natural sanctuary overlooks the ocean, and is surrounded by striking coastal fynbos, towering sand dunes, and limestone cliffs.
Popular activities here are game drives, whale-watching, sandboarding and hiking.
Leave your bags at the lodge and book your game drive for later. You are likely to see several types of wildlife and birdlife amid the diverse landscapes. The sunsets here are stunning too.

Park your car here and take a short walk to the beach.

The complete length of the De Hoop coast is a Marine Protected Area, giving rise to some of the richest intertidal ecosystems in the province. At Koppie Alleen, you can walk along the beach, relax and suntan, explore the caves on the shore, snorkel in the rock pools and view whales in season.

The Fig Tree Restaurant is located at the main Opstal area of De Hoop Collection lodge. It is open to overnight and day visitors and serves main meals as well as snacks. The restaurant is housed in an old farmer’s shed which was renovated and now offers guests an inviting setting with beautiful views of the De Hoop Vlei.

The De Hoop Collection consists of a wide variety of accommodation, catering for different-sized groups. Surrounded by nature, the lodgings range from luxurious self-catering cottages to rustic campsites and basic rondawels.
