From the Lakes to Poland

Somehow, it seems like a great idea to have a Toboggan run and a money forest combined, so why not check it out. It's a great way to start the second day of your road trip, and I bet you will be smiling in your car the rest of the day after this eventful morning.

You are on your way to Poland taking the 192. When you arrive at Neubrandenburg you will find this tower near the lake. And the good part about this tower is...you can go up! YES! From 21 meters high up in the air, you have a great view of the lake and its surroundings. The perfect place to get some rest from driving and breath in some fresh air to recharge.

Home-cooked meals served by friendly staff for very nice prices. This is the place where you can enjoy a great meal before crossing the border, but beware you can have lunch here only during weekends. Also, it's best to arrive in least 30 minutes before closing time to be sure the kitchen still serves meals.
If you are here during the week - before opening hours, you can drive just a bit (10 minutes) further down the route to a restaurant called Restaurant Park Am See in a town called Penkun.

Park your car at your hotel. Maybe check in already. You will enjoy the city on foot.

You are now in the city called Szczecin, which is crossed by the river Oden. The centre of the city is on the left bank of the river. With 404.878 inhabitants, the city is the 7th largest in the country. Learn more about the House of Loitzs and the city here. What you are looking at now is the building where the art school settles.

While you are walking in the beautiful centre of the city and alongside its river banks, look down here. You will find a very nice mosaic map. It is called the Mare Dambiensis, and next to it you will see the statue of the Sailing Cat Umbriaga. Yes, a sailing cat. There is a great story to it. You can learn about the sailing cat and other animal statues in Poland here.

One of the few restaurants where the staff speaks English. Which can come in handy if you have special wishes for dinner. Also, the food is great here, the prices are friendly as is the staff.

When the sun sets, the city comes to live. It is beautifully lit and a good place to enjoy that is here. The whole river bank is a treat. So go for a stroll and let your diner settle before you go to sleep. If you want you can go pick up your car and drive to your hotel, but if you want to enjoy a beer or two you can also walk to your hotel, which is in the centre.

What a day, starting with a toboggan run and ending with a stroll down the river in a totally different country. You must be tired. Sleep well and see you tomorrow!
